How to use these riddles

A riddle is different from a joke. A joke asks for a laugh; a riddle asks for a guess. That gap between the question and the answer is where the value is, so resist reading the answer out too quickly - the thinking is the activity.

Most riddles for kids work by describing an everyday object in a way that sounds impossible. A clock has hands but cannot clap. A needle has an eye but cannot see.
